Precision Farming

Precision farming is about managing variability that occur across the field namely spatial and temporal variability.Dealing with these variability make we able to apply agricultural inputs such as fertlizers and pesticides accurately. For example, crop nitrogen requirement differ by soil fertility. If certain plot already contain high nitrogen content,we don't need to apply nitrogen fertilizer anymore. This also minimize the environmental degradation by the effect of nitrogen losses to the environment through leaching. This video highlight the expert views on precision farming.

Among the tools used in precision farming are GPS,satelite, and sensors. There are many reasons to use precision farming especially towards sustainable agriculture to feed the increasing world population.
